Bengals are a relatively new breed of cat, developed by crossing an Asian Leopard Cat with a domestic cat, deriving its name from the Latin Name of its wild ancestor, Felis Bengalensis (Asian Leopard Cat).
Bengals are medium to large size cats which exhibits a very muscular and solid build. Its wide nose with prominent whisker pads and large oval, almost round eyes in a slightly small head enhance the wild appearance and express a nocturnal look.
Bengals can take a great deal of interest in water and some enjoy getting wet. Bengals are intelligent and very curious often following their owners from room to room engaging in activities, and vocalizing with their owners. Our Bengal "Lexie" will retrieve her mouse when it is thrown. She brings it to our feet and meows signaling she wants it thrown again, and repeats this activity over and over again. She also enjoys hiding her play "mousies" when she's done. Often I open the pantry door and find several "mousies" lined up inside the door where she has hidden them.
